28 CLARENDON Street
Naarm Country,
Melbourne VIC
Status: Design Development
The Robur Tea House at 28 Clarendon Street stands as one of the last remnants of the industrial era that defined Southbank until the late 20th century.
Honouring the site’s heritage, a series of seven interconnected structures were designed around the Tea House, to create a vibrant social landscape of hospitality venues, flagship retail stores, coworking spaces and creative incubation spaces, as well as lifestyle and hotel facilities.
Publicly accessible landscaped terraces will link the ground level to the rooftops of these stepped forms, offering a landscaped connection throughout the site.
CONTRIBUTIONS
CD, SD
During the Concept Design Phase, I collaborated with a team of architects, interior designers, and landscape architects to develop the building’s massing and articulation around the existing Tea House. The design emphasised heritage preservation and incorporated winding and elevated public terraces as vantage points to view the Tea House and its surroundings.
I coordinated with consultants during the spatial arrangement and refinement process, and led the preparation of the Concept Design and Schematic Design reports and contributed to documentation packages for Development Application and Heritage evaluation.
