HEYSEN ART GALLERY

Peramangk Country
Adelaide Hills, SA

Status: Design Proposal

The Heysen Gallery was designed to be an artistic hub for the Adelaide hills, and the display of work by Hans and Nora Heysen.

Comprised of gallery spaces, restaurant and function space, maker space, art storage and administration facilities it would celebrate Heysen’s connection with nature and the Adelaide Hills landscape, allowing a reinvigorated and immersive reading of their work.

The vision for the new experience of ‘The Cedars’, looked to cherish a deep connection to the past, revealing evocative experiences of landscape.

CONTRIBUTIONS

CD

During Heysen Gallery’s Design Proposal Stage, I collaborated with our Landscape Architect and Interior Design disciplines as part of an architectural team testing design concepts.

I spent time analysing the site, and worked on the building’s proposed massing and articulation, testing forms and spatial arrangement through plan, section, sketch, and modeling.

I contributed to client and design team workshops, and lead the preparation of the Design Proposal Report.
