THE MALTINGS

Status: Design Proposal

The Maltings is a historical ruin that once supplied malt to breweries throughout New South Wales. Fire is uniquely intertwined with the site, its impacts shaping a journey from industrial center to verdant ruin, and now to a unique, unrealised future.

Conceptually, the design proposal embraces fire as a transformative process with several phases: destruction, the brief glory of heat and light, and the ruin left behind.

The architectural language aims to preserve the ruin in its current form, while new regenerative growth fulfills additional functions such as gallery, hospitality, and accommodation spaces for the site.

CONTRIBUTIONS

CD + SD

During the Concept Design and Schematic Design stages, I played an integral role in developing and executing the design concept, massing studies, building articulation, and spatial planning.

Collaborating closely with teams in Landscape Architecture, Interior Design, and Design Consultancy, I tested and implemented various design solutions.

I also modeled, visualised, sketched, and documented work that contributed to the Concept Design Drawings and Report, the Schematic Design Drawings and Report, and the materials for Design Approval.
